Job description

As Hobart Reporter for Sky News you will report in the field and cover a wide variety of stories including news, sport and weather across Hobart and Tasmania. 

You will have the ability to report live in a dynamic 24-hour news environment while also writing and preparing packages and other news content, including digital copy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Report live and write news packages.
  • Attend news conferences, conduct interviews and newsgather on a wide range of issues.
  • Work closely with the Sky team and liaise with senior editorial staff in Sydney to decide upon news coverage.
  • Build and maintain a network of contacts to enable you to break stories.
  • Capacity to shoot, write, edit and present news stories from start to finish, on a daily basis (training provided on operating a video journalist kit) 
  • File for digital platforms.
  • Pitch original news stories and ideas.

  • Good writing skills and news judgement with experience in live and breaking news
  • Excellent time management skills, the ability to multitask and work to strict deadlines
  • Attention to detail 
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to write engaging, accurate and crisp copy, quickly, and under pressure
