Botanic Gardens of Sydney encompasses three world-leading botanic gardens, Australia’s premier botanical research institute, and Sydney’s leading outdoor activation precinct.
The Royal Botanic Gardens is Australia’s oldest living scientific institution, beginning its life in 1816.
The Royal Botanic Gardens encompasses 30 hectares and is the oldest botanic garden in Australia, home to an outstanding collection of more than 27,000 plants and trees from around the world. The Domain encompasses 34 hectares of urban parkland that wraps around the Royal Botanic Garden. It is endowed with significant natural and cultural heritage values, with varying fields of science and education. We also play a central role in Sydney’s festivals and cultural events, as well as the recreational and sporting pursuits of sporting groups, city workers and residents.
About the Role
Our busy Turf team are currently seeking x 2 Horticultural Labourers who will contribute to the turf conservation, maintenance and regeneration of turf and natural areas within Botanic Gardens site.
What we are looking for
- Relevant experience in the development, maintenance of turf displays and regeneration of turf and natural areas.
- Experience in the use and maintenance of relevant turf machinery and equipment.
- Sound knowledge and demonstrated capacity to implement occupational health and safety policy and practices.
- Someone that is self-motivated and can work within a team environment and alone.
- Supporting the development and maintenance of turf areas in accordance with BG policies and procedures.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a group of world-leading staff from the fields of science and horticulture.
Essential Requirements
- Sound knowledge and demonstrated capacity to implement occupational health and safety policy and practices.
- Current driver’s licence with the ability to drive manual vehicles
- Has the ability to lift and carry a minimum 15 kilos.
- Ability to work outside of normal working hours and on weekends if required.
