Our Team
Our Parks and Sustainability team look after 1,780 hectares of open space for reserves, parks, natural conservation areas and special purpose lands, including over 700 hectares of natural bushland, 26 wetland sites and 6.5 kilometres of coastal dunes.
The Role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual looking to start a career in horticulture.
The City offers our Horticultural Trainee a one year traineeship, where you will work towards attaining a Certificate III in Horticulture. This Traineeship could be extended for an additional year to allow for competition of further qualifications, dependent upon successful completion of the Certificate III in the first 12 months. You will learn skills such as provide information on plants and their culture, contribute to work health and safety processes, pruning, mulching, planting, weed control and mowing, and receive ongoing guidance and support.

To be considered for this role, you’ll be enthusiastic about horticulture and working outdoors and:
Have good communication skills
Be able to work as part of a team
Be able to follow instructions and guidance from colleagues
Be available to start work at 6.30am
Be committed to completing the coursework associated with the traineeship

This fixed-term, full time role attracts a salary of $48,172.97 gross pro rata per annum plus superannuation and fantastic benefits such as:
