Salary:$70,000 - $85,000 plus 11% superannuation
Our client, Sohi Produce Pty Ltd. The Trustee for Sohi Family Trust, is a leading provider of high-quality blueberries, committed to sustainable farming practices and delivering fresh produce to customers.
Sohi Produce is a family-owned business dedicated to producing the finest blueberries in the region. The client is currently seeking a Horticulture Grower to join its team to manage the all aspects of produce cultivation, from planting and nurturing to harvesting and packaging. Supported by in-house team, implementation of crop management practices will be key to increase produce yield and succeed in this role.
With a strong focus on customer service, product quality and safety, the company takes pride in their ability to deliver the freshest, highest quality produce direct from the Coffs Harbour.

Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor degree or higher
• At least 3 years of experience in business management, intensive horticulture, soft fruit production, WH&S and financial reporting
• At least five years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications
In this role your main responsibilities include:
• Planning and coordinating the production and marketing of crops, from soil preparation to harvest taking into account environmental and market factors
• Selecting and planting seeds, seedlings and bulbs, and grafting new varieties to root stocks
• Manage the cropping plan including growing harvesting and delivering the crop
• Drive productivity and focus on cost efficiencies in all areas
• Maintaining crop production by cultivating, de-budding and pruning, and maintaining optimal growing conditions
• Organising and conducting farming operations, such as collecting, storing, grading and packaging produce, and organising the sale, purchase and dispatch of produce
• Directing and overseeing general farming activities such as fertilising and pest and weed control
• Manage the key areas of crop production including cultivation, fertigation, pest and disease management, and plant husbandry
• Maintaining farm buildings, fences, equipment and water supply systems
• Maintaining and evaluating records of farming activities, monitoring market activity, and planning crop preparation and production to meet contract requirements and market demand
• Manage the quality assurance programmes
• Communicate with key stakeholders including suppliers and customers
• Develop climate risk management strategies
• Identify risks within the business and develop appropriate strategies
• Manage the WH&S program including risk analysis, policies, and procedures
• Manage work health and safety processes
• Train and develop key managers and supervisors
To be considered for this role you must have:
• Have experience in managing a team
• Have financial reporting ability and work within a budget.
• Familiarity with agricultural machinery and equipment.
• Skilled at crop health, production planning and pest and disease management.
• Knowledge of best practices for soil preparation, planting, and crop maintenance
• Strong understanding of irrigation techniques and water management
• Know about intensive soft fruit production
• Know agronomy, fertigation, harvest and non-harvest operations
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
