About the Service:
Central Gippsland Health (CGH) is a subregional health service and the major provider of health and aged care services in the Wellington Shire.
CGH provides acute care as part of an integrated service delivery model across Wellington Shire and beyond. The service provides beds across three campuses (Sale, Maffra and Heyfield).
Acute services include a full-time emergency department, critical care unit, neonatal critical care unit, 4 operating theatres, day procedure unit, and oncology and dialysis services in addition to general medical and surgical services and sub-acute services including rehabilitation.
CGH Consulting Rooms located at Sale, accommodate full-time and part-time staff and private specialists and a large number of visiting specialists. A significant development program is underway to diversify and increase the clinical services available, provided by medical consultants and allied health practitioners.
About the Role
The HMO is responsible for the clinical assessment and management of patients under the supervision of senior clinicians and to participate in the duties of care for inpatient admissions and presentations to Emergency Department (ED). The HMO works closely with the other members of the relevant clinical unit medical team and wider multidisciplinary team. HMO positions may be rotational through Clinical Units to provide a broad experience in Medicine, Surgery and Emergency.
Paediatrics experience may be satisfied by an additional rotation in Emergency.
Classifications for this position will range pending on qualifications.
Duties
- Clinical management of patients, including appropriate history taking, physical examination, investigation, assessment, and care planning and coordination.
- Initiate immediate clinical management, including pain relief and interventions for patient comfort and safety.
- Monitor management of patients under supervision, incorporating the appropriate diagnostic testing and investigation and follow up of results.
