The Role
We are looking for a proactive and detailed oriented Hotel Assistant Financial Controller who is passionate about contributing to the success of Oakwood Premier Melbourne. You will assist our Director of Finance in managing and overseeing all aspects of the finance department, all accounting, administrial processes and procedures, payroll processing and procurement, your key roles and responsibilities will include but will not be limited to;
- Proactively lead, prepare and manage all hotel financial activities and reports.
- Process hotel fortnightly payroll using Sage Micropay and Human Force
- Supervise, develop, train and manage all finance team members.
- Prepare timely and accurate financial statements for review.
- Prepare monthly general ledger reconciliation, EOM journals and other accounting records of the hotel.
- Assist the Director of Finance in preparation of budgets and forecast.
- Review daily deposit reconciliation and cash postings, manage the administration of all bank accounts, ensure banking queries are followed up promptly, and prepare banking reports.
- Conduct audits of cash deposits and monitor the cash flow of the hotel.
- Supervise accounts payable and other payment disbursements.
- Assist with internal control self-assessments and ensure compliance with internal and external audits as well as country and state legislations.
- Recommend and implement improvements in accounting procedures and internal control processes.
- Assist with fixed asset register maintenance.
- Assist the Director of Finance in overseeing the daily operation of IT, finance and purchasing/store.

About You
To excel in the role, you should ideally have;
- Bachelor degree in Finance/ Accounting or its equivalent, proficient in Australian accounting standards
- A minimum of 3 years previous experience in similar capacity, preferably from hotel or hospitality industry
- Ability to analyse financial data, departmental revenue and expenses as well as working with various departments to provide cost management initiatives.
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications, particularly in EXCEL
- Strong organizational skills with eye for details and effective problem-solving ability
- Driven, self-motivated and passionate about accounting and financial performance
- Excellent time management
- Embrace accountability and sense of ownership; responsible to follow tasks through to completion
- Team player with a positive can-do attitude
- Proficient in oral and written communication
- Knowledge in using RMS, Sage Micropay, Human Force, SUN Accounting System and ERP systems will be beneficial.
