The Role
Reporting directly to the Head of Financial Control and FP&A, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely completion of routine internal and corporate financial processes.
As Assistant Financial controller, you will take full ownership in managing the financial control environment in of consolidated Australian businesses in line with local, regional and corporate policies and guidelines, including consolidated.
This is a stand alone role which is well suited to an individual who may currently be employed as a Tax & Statutory Accountant, Corporate Accountant or Senior Group Accountant. Equally, it may appeal to a technically strong Financial Controller who doesn't mind stepping into a stand alone role without direct reports.
Whilst stand alone, it will be expected that you assist the Head of financial Control & FPA in helping to steer and guide finance team members.
As Assistant Financial Controller, you will be required to pivot and change direction quickly to accommodate both local and regional demands. Further, you will be an active member in ongoing process improvement & finance related projects.
This role will have direct exposure to many local and overseas stakeholders, which will require you to have strong soft skills and business partnering qualities to engage with a wide & diverse set of audiences.
You key responsibilities will include but not limited to:
Financial Reporting: Oversight and review of monthly reporting including balance sheet reconciliations. Management of Lease reporting for Australia
Corporate Reporting: Preparation of consolidated Australian reporting as per standard Corporate requirements. FX management
Statutory Requirements: Preparation of annual financial statements (including calculation of ROU Assets and Lease Liabilities), insurance and income tax returns as per US GAAP and Local.
Management of SG&A costs across businesses
Projects as required and leave coverage for Accountants as required
Relevant Experience
- CPA / CA qualification or similar
- At least 7 to 10+ years' relevant experience in local tax and statutory environment, preferably in a large or multinational company.
- Ideally knowledge of US GAAP and SOX
- Solid understanding of end to end business processes necessary to assess and manage control risks.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, verbal communication, and business partnering skills
- Strong attention to detail.
- Analytical skills with intermediate to advanced skills in Excel.
