About the role - Permanent full-time
Our Care Pathways team provides care, accommodation, and support to children and young people aged up to eighteen years who require 24/7 care away from their families, or who arrive in Australia without a legal guardian. The young people have experienced trauma, and many have physical and/or intellectual disabilities and developmental delays, requiring therapeutic support and ongoing care to lead a happy, healthy life.
The House Coordinator reports directly to the Team Leader in Residential Care, overseeing houses and care teams in the Northern suburbs. As the House Coordinator, you are hands on coordinating the care of children and young people and developing strong working relationships with external stakeholders including Department of Child Protection. You will assist in the development of appropriate support and staffing plans, monitoring and supervision of support staff, and delivery of services in consideration to all relevant statutory frameworks.
Key responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
  • Possess a sound knowledge of trauma informed, holistic and client-centred approaches, and their application in supporting young people to achieve their goals and aspirations
  • Provide effective advocacy on behalf of clients in line with identified goals and support needs
  • Ability to develop and implement individual assessment and care plans tailored to need within a residential care setting
  • Ability to work with support staff and others to develop and implement behaviour management strategies and plans for children in care
  • Ability to effectively respond to crisis, providing flexible and dynamic responses to ensure the needs of children and young people are met within a changing environment
  • Provide regular opportunities for support staff to receive effective formal and informal supervision
About you:
You are a people-centred individual with an ability to connect with children and young people and staff. Having exceptional self-awareness, you have the ability to handle stressful situations calmly and the ability to practice self-care. You are motivated by developing and building up members of your team to ensure they are set up for success in their roles. In our dynamic workplace, you can think on your feet, manage a fluctuating workload and effectively manage crisis. You will bring prior leadership experience or have worked within a coordinator or case manager position in the past.
You will also have the following skills and experience:
  • Bachelor qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, or related field
  • Certificate IV qualifications in one of the following: Youth Work, Community Services, Child, Youth and Family Intervention, or Disability (in conjunction with relevant experience)
  • Understand the needs of children and young people under Guardianship of the Chief Executive
  • Work with vulnerable and at-risk children and young people with complex needs and/or disability
  • Demonstrated people leadership and experience in care coordination
Specific Requirements:

You will be required to have, or be willing to obtain:
  • Full unrestricted South Australia Driver's Licence
  • DHS Child-Related Employment Screening or Working With Children check
  • National Police Clearance
  • A Successful Psychological Suitability Assessment in accordance with Department of Child Protection requirements
  • Training: Provide First Aid (HLTAID003)
  • Training: Safe Environments for Children and Young People (Through Their Eyes)
  • Ability to work outside of normal office hours may be required
  • Annual Road Worthy Vehicle assessment and willingness to use own vehicle for work purposes including transporting children and young people
