Organisational Context

Linking Communities Network Ltd (LCN) is the lead agency in homelessness and Domestic and Family Violence in Western Murrumbidgee. The service operates in a geographically isolated part of NSW, with distances across the region spanning 110,000 square kilometres.

This isolation has seen LCN expand over the years to ensure an encompassing service delivery for the client cohort, including women, youth, men and families including those with complex needs.  LCN utilises a range of collaborative partnerships and networks to provide positive outcomes for clients “at risk” or homeless. 

LCN is a Company Limited by Guarantee, governed by a Board of Directors who bring a mix of skills, experience and community perspectives to the strategic direction of the organisation. Our team includes over 25 workers who bring passion, energy and client focused case management and a genuine commitment to clients and community alike.

Our Mission

Linking Communities Network Ltd will deliver a wide range of services and programs for women, youth, men and families across the Western Murrumbidgee District – strengthening clients and communities by focusing on early intervention programs, rapid rehousing strategies, client focused crisis responses and intensive support for clients with complex needs.

Core Behaviours and Responsibilities

ROLE:LCN STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES;Homelessness & Housing Support
  • Communicate effectively to engage and establish rapport with clients to achieve their goals through responsive and timely engagement.
  • Ensure and maintain privacy and confidentiality of clients.
  • Provide high quality, client centred, strengths-based services to clients using a trauma informed and culturally responsive practice approach.
  • Provide Homelessness Support, ensuring appropriate referrals are allocated are allocated for each client which includes support, referral, advice and advocacy.
  • Work towards achieving ‘rapid re-housing’ for eligible clients.
  • Provide information and support to connect families and and individuals with appropriate referral pathways to address issues impacting on secure housing, such as mental illness, substance use, physical health and life skills.
  • Ensure accurate and professional case notes are uploaded within allocated timeframes to relevant database/s.
  • Actively participate in LCN teams/programs by contributing to collaborative working relationships, team initiatives and professional development.
  • Attend in-service team meetings, attend formal supervision sessions as requested by Manager as well as informal sessions to assess and prioritize appropriate responses to clients that demonstrate multiple and complex needs.
  • Work within LCN service delivery policies, procedures, principals and practices.
  • Participate in activities which develop, strengthen and support the capacity of the local community to recognize and address issues relevant to the target group.
  • Develop and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with all other relevant services and programs to ensure professional standards of case management and case coordination.

Selection Criteria:

Required Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge, Experience & Abilities

 Relevant qualifications or specialist skills and expertise to perform at Grade 4 Paypoint 1.classification of the SCHADS Award. Relevant degree or diploma (or working towards) and/or substantial years of relevant experience.

  • Knowledge of homelessness services, including the impact of past government policies on First nations People.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in case management of people with complex support needs including outreach and advocacy.
  • Demonstrated skills in person centred support, assessment and referral within a trauma informed practice lens.
  • Strong skills in time management, setting priorities, planning and organizing own work to achieve specified outcomes.
  • Experience networking with multidisciplinary services and agencies and ability to build and foster relationships within a changing sector climate.
  • Competence in using databases, video conferencing and the suite of Microsoft programs

Skills & Knowledge

 A sound knowledge of the effects of trauma and abuse in relation to homelessness

  • An understanding of social issues relating to our local context
  • Demonstrated high level communication skills.
  • Conceptual skills, with sound analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills including the ability to establish rapport, engage with and motivate others
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team toward established goals
  • Sound administration skills including confidence in the use of information and communications technology

 Other requirements

 Have and maintain a current full NSW driver’s license, sound driving record.

  • Have, or willing to obtain a Working With Children Clearance and NSW Police Check
  • Be willing to travel for training
