About the role: Housing Support Case Worker - Mental Health (Busselton based)
Lamp Inc. is currently seeking passionate, skilled, and experienced Mental Health support worker, to work in Busselton. Providing supports to individuals with a primary Mental Health diagnosis, the successful candidate will be able to work within a recovery orientated framework to build capacity, including tasks such as:
- Collaborate with participants experiencing homelessness or housing instability to develop personalised recovery and housing stability plans.
- Conduct regular reviews and updates of plans based on participants' progress and changing needs, focusing on housing goals and Mental Health recovery.
- Help participants develop skills for managing their Mental Health and household responsibilities, such as budgeting, and self-care routines.
- Empower participants to make informed decisions about their care and recovery process.
- Build and maintain relationships with community organisations and service providers to enhance support networks for participants.
- Collaborate with emergency services, housing authorities, and other professionals to address housing crises effectively
- Support participants in developing vocational skills and pursuing employment or educational opportunities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of participants interactions, progress, and any incidents.
- Provide culturally sensitive support that respects the diverse backgrounds and experiences of participants.
Selection Criteria
The suitable candidate must be able to demonstrate or demonstrate how they’re working toward the below.
Essential:
- Minimum Certificate III qualification (or near complete) in Mental Health or similar.
- Demonstrated successful experience in delivery of human services.
- Effective planning, organisational and time management skills including punctuality.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, written and team building skills.
- Competent information technology skills in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook.
- A demonstrated understanding of capacity building and recovery orientated frameworks.
- A demonstrated understanding of factors that impact on the Mental Health and roles of participants including those people who identify as being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
- Experience successfully working and networking in a culturally diverse environment.
- Self-motivation and the ability to work with limited supervision under general direction in the application of well established procedures, methods and guidelines.
- Willingness to volunteer your time, toward Lamp Inc. fundraising days and events, as reasonably requested.
Desirable:
- Mental Health First Aid
- Senior First Aid
- Experience delivering housing services to people with severe and persistent MH challenges.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of person-centred planning and tenancy management.
- Previous experience in working within a multi-disciplinary, multi-agency approach.
- Lived experience with Mental Health challenges or supporting someone with a Mental Health challenge.
You must have full working rights within Australia and possess/be willing to obtain before commencement:
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance ($145)
- National Police Clearance
- Working with Children Check
- Driver’s License
