JOB TITLE: HR Advisor
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Offer advice on employment legislation, industrial relations, and HR policies to ensure compliance and fair treatment of employees, in line with Australian Employment Law.
- Provide support to HR manager in coordinating complex case management matters, conducting HR investigations, as required and providing recommendations to the business.
- When required, act as a mediator in employee relations issues, facilitating discussions to resolve conflicts and disputes amicably.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to address and resolve informal grievances.
- Support the HR Manager in conducting training sessions for employees and managers on employee relations topics, fostering a positive workplace culture.
- Keep abreast of changes in employment law and disseminate relevant information to the organisation, supporting HR Manager in updating employment contracts, employment documents and localised policies.
- Use critical thinking to identify root causes of problems and address them proactively.
- Proficient in mediating workplace disputes and finding mutually agreeable resolutions.
- Ability to balance the interests of both employees and the organisation.
- Respond effectively to changing circumstances, demonstrating flexibility in problem-solving approaches.
- Adapt strategies to different personalities, situations, and organisational needs.
- Assist the project teams and HR Manager in the creation of ER employment tender documents, referencing the relevant industrial instruments for Australia, as required.
- Provide HR administration support to the local business which will include, but not limited to employment letters, change of condition’s, and assisting HR manager in the creation of local templates.
- Respond to general HR related employment enquires, directing employee enquires to the appropriate HR functional lead, as required.
- Provide general ER advise on general Australian IR matters, including but not limited to Enterprise Agreement interpretation and application.
- Coordinate and manage all visa applications, VEVO checks, and liasing with the relevant visa agent to ensure compliance with the Department of Home Affairs.
- Assist with the creation and maintenance of a local training competency for the local asset solutions business for all roles. This will then form part of the training matrix for each position.
- Assist with Enterprise Agreement negotiations, using influencing and industry experience, as required.
- Participate in the local Emergency/Incident Management Response roster.
- Create all local HR purchase requests.
- Conduct HR onboarding sessions, in conjunction with HR manager.
- Provide HR administration support to the business, including providing reports and analysing data trends.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Proven ability to effectively resolve workplace conflicts and disputes.
- Demonstrate high ethical standards and integrity in dealing with sensitive employee matters.
- Ability to understand and empathise with diverse perspectives and experiences.
- Exercise discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive employee relations issues.
- Solution focussed with an ability to operate in a dynamic environment, where change is consistent
- Strong ER knowledge; Modern Award system, National Employment Standards and experience managing employee matters.
- HR Degree or relevant qualification.
- Practical working experience in Australia.
- Relevant industry experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain positive relationships with employees, unions, and management.
- Ability to influence stakeholders and drive positive outcomes.
- Effective negotiation skills to reach mutually beneficial agreements in employment-related matters.
