Role Overview

1 year full-time fixed-term contract (maybe extended if required).

Responsible for managing a variety of human resources initiatives and projects within the organisation. Reporting to the People and Culture Manager, you will play a critical role in driving HR strategies, reviewing and revamping current HR state and practices, and implementing programs to achieve key organisational objectives. 

This hands-on role requires a blend of HR expertise, project management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Develop programs that are sustainable, scalable, and require minimal ongoing maintenance, ensuring long-term success and efficiency for the HR team and the organisation as a whole.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Develop new HR programs and initiatives to address HRC’s needs and priorities, leveraging industry best practices and innovative approaches.
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis to identify trends, benchmarks, and insights that inform program design and implementation.
  • Collaborate closely with key stakeholders across sites to gather requirements, solicit feedback, and ensure alignment with organisational goals and objectives.
  • Create and curate program content, including training materials, handbooks, guides, and resources, to support program implementation and participant engagement.
  • Develop comprehensive documentation of program objectives, guidelines, and procedures to ensure clarity and consistency in program delivery.
  • Facilitate training sessions and workshops to introduce new HR programs and initiatives to employees, managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure that documentation is comprehensive, easy to understand, and accessible to a wide range of users, including HR staff, managers, and employees.
  • Establish and maintain standardised formats, templates, and style guidelines for all HR program documentation to promote consistency and clarity.
  • Design and create visually appealing templates, layouts, and graphics for HR documents, presentations, and communications.
  • Develop a structured approach to organising information, using headings, subheadings, tables, and graphics to improve readability and comprehension.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources; Master's degree or relevant certifications are a plus
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in human resources, with a focus on program development, implementation, and management
  • Comprehensive understanding of all HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training and development, compensation and benefits, HRIS management, and compliance
  • Strong understanding of HR principles, practices, and regulations, with a proven track record of developing successful HR programs
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, manage timelines, and deliver results within budget constraints
  • Proficiency in HRIS/Payroll platforms, automation tools, and other relevant technology solutions
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively to develop innovative solutions to HR challenges

The New Intercity Fleet (NIF) Project is being delivered by Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) to provide a fleet of new intercity trains for operation on the New South Wales (NSW) electrified rail network. The rail-car fleet will comprise of 55 Long Units and 69 Short Units for the Newcastle, Blue Mountains, South Coast and Central Coast lines.

The NIF high-capacity, double-deck walk-through trains to be delivered by RailConnect NSW will be configured as four, six, eight (2x4) and ten car trains (4+6). The trains will offer passenger comfort and amenities suitable for longer journeys, such as comfortable seating, advanced communications technology and toilets.

RailConnect NSW is a consortium comprising Hyundai Rotem Company (HRC), UGL Rail Services Pty Ltd (UGL) and Mitsubishi Electric Australia Pty Ltd (MEA).
