PanAust Limited (“PanAust”) is an Australian-headquartered copper and gold producer in Laos, with pre-development and exploration assets in Laos, Papua New Guinea (PNG) and Chile.
Reporting directly to the General Manager Human Resources, this is an opportunity to join PanAust during an exciting period of growth.
Our Assets
In Laos, PanAust’s subsidiary, Phu Bia Mining Limited, operates the Phu Kham Copper-Gold and Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver Operations. Both are world-class, award-winning operations with strong operational, safety and sustainability credentials.
In PNG, PanAust owns the Frieda River Copper-Gold Project, one of the largest known undeveloped copper and gold deposits in the world. The project will help to supply the copper required to facilitate the renewable energy transition. Frieda River is a sustainable, nation-building project which includes the development of a hydropower facility and public infrastructure that will advance one of the least developed regions in PNG.
In Chile, PanAust owns 100% of the Carmen copper gold project and 66% of the Inca de Oro copper gold project. Both are promising pre-development assets, which are being progressed by PanAust.
The Role
As PanAust progresses towards developing its future projects, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent HR Superintendent to join the team based in our James Street office in Fortitude Valley.
The role supports the HR team with the implementation of PanAust people strategy, while also providing HR business partner support to our Brisbane and Papua New Guinea based employees.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Provide senior level HR advice across the full employee lifecycle, providing business partner support to employees in our Brisbane and Papua New Guinea sites.
- Lead the annual performance review process (including salary review & bonus processes) for Senior and Expatriate employees.
- Support the General Manager Human Resources (Brisbane) and the HR & Training Manager (Laos) with the implementation and execution of projects and activities to support the People Strategy.
- Support leaders through people management processes including disciplinary, investigations, grievances and performance management.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of the leadership capability framework.
- Support the development and implementation of leadership development programs, designed to build leadership capability across the organisation.
- Support organisational design and culture projects.
- Develop, implement and run change management plans for projects of various sizes and scopes.
- Support annual talent programs, including initial identification and ongoing management of the organisation’s critical roles, critical skills mapping and succession planning.
- Identify and implement improvements to HR policies and processes to increase operational efficiencies and ensure compliance with legislative requirements.
- Provide detailed monthly HR reporting and key metrics to stakeholders across the business.
- Utilise HR data to identify trends and make informed recommendations for continual improvement of HR initiatives.
- Participate in annual remuneration benchmarking surveys, using the outcomes to ensure our current remuneration approaches are competitive in the marketplace and internally consistent.
- Manage remuneration and benefits frameworks for Corporate, Expatriate, PNG and senior employees across the global business.
- Provide HR support for new mine studies and M&A activities.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A depth of HR experience that covers a mix of specialist and generalist roles, with a desire to work across the full HR remit.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate through ambiguity.
- Excellent understanding of contemporary human resources practices.
- Proven experience in stakeholder engagement and collaboration.
- Proven experience working with a global workforce.
- Exceptional analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proven ability to use data to inform HR decisions.
- Experience in SuccessFactors and full Microsoft suite.
- Experience in the Resources industry is preferred, but not required.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources and/or other relevant fields
