As a HSE Advisor at Built you are responsible for implementing and supporting the HSE plan and oversee the monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of our safety systems. With a focus on project HSE issues, this role reflects working with project teams to identify, prevent and report operational safety and environmental incidents. The role will be based in Brisbane support the QLD team across major construction, fit out and refurbishment projects.
Here’s what a typical day might look like for you
- Assist in the improvement of the project’s HSE performance
- Provide advice to project and feedback to senior management in all matters relating to HSE
- Review and monitor key project performance indicators for HSE;
- Assist with the company’s internal audit program in relation to HSE including reviewing audit reports and the closure of corrective actions;
- As required, participate in the company’s external audit program in relation to HSE including communication of audit reports and assisting the project teams to close out corrective actions;
- Training and coaching of staff on company policies, procedures and systems;
- Assisting with the investigation of significant incidents, making recommendations and implementing corrective actions, including monitoring the closure of corrective actions;
- Work with project groups to ensure the implementation of the HSE management system across respective projects including the integration of HSE system changes and their implementation at the project level;
- Maintain a close working relationship with the relevant HSE Managers and other HSE Advisors
Here are the essentials you’ll need for this role
Professional:
- Understanding of regulatory requirements relating to HSE
- Demonstrates an ability to be open to change, including thinking and work differently in addressing HSE challenges to improve performance and mitigate critical risks
- Able to provide timely, relevant, succinct HSE advice to project team
- Able to communicate HSE matters to a broad range of stakeholders
Qualifications/ Experience:
- Minimum two to three years’ experience in an HSE role within Construction or related industry
- Understanding of incident investigation Desirable: Certificate IV in Workplace training and assessment / Incident investigation methodology (e.g. ICAM)
