The RoleThe Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Advisor supports the HSE Manager in promoting a safe, healthy and compliant working environment for all employees, contractors and visitors across all parts of the company. This will include facilitating and delivering HSE programs, strategies, and training onsite to ensure legislative compliance. The position will also coach and assist leaders across the company to recognise hazards and to minimise risk, actively promoting a culture of safety and environmental awareness and employee health and well-being.
Role Responsibilities- Provide accurate and timely specialist advice and onsite support to ensure the effective implementation and delivery of HSE Frameworks, programs and HSE Management Systems across all parts of the company.
- Develop, implement and monitor HSE related policies and procedures and recommend updates as required.
- Conduct regular and thorough workplace inspections and risk assessments to ensure compliance with HSE standards and requirements.
- Actively engage in behavioural observations and coach and mentor employees to embed the HSE strategies to build a positive safety culture.
- Support the HSE Manager in any workers’ compensation claims and return to work processes as required
- Participate in incidents and investigations into accidents, incidents and near misses, to understand and learn from the root causes and provide advice, coaching and guidance to leaders on the recommended corrective actions
- Drive a culture of accurate and timely reporting of incidents and events
- Facilitate the Corporate Induction for new hires.
- Work in partnership with your supervisor to agreed performance standards and mutual expectations. Give and receive regular feedback to enable performance to be improved
- Actively manage your own performance by identifying your own requirements regarding personal and professional development and utilise opportunities that are made available to develop new or enhance existing skills to optimise your potential within Rino Recycling
- Cooperate in a professional manner with all customers, team and management and act in accordance with the company values to achieve a harmonious and productive work environment
- Be committed to the quality improvement process by participating in improvement initiatives and making suggestions for efficiency and effectiveness
- Any other duties, projects or responsibilities as directed.

Education and Qualifications
Required
- Certificate IV Work Health and Safety
- 5 + years’ experience in a similar role within manufacturing, mining, construction, waste management or other heavy industry.
Desirable
- Certificate IV Training and Assessment
- ICAM Investigation
- First Aid Certification
Skills and Knowledge
- Demonstrated understanding of current workplace HSE legislative requirements, standards and best practice
- Demonstrated experience with HSE Management Systems including HSE reporting in an operational/waste management environment
- Experience in environmental management and sustainability practices
- Experience in conducting incident investigations, audits and inspections in a professional and impartial manner and recommending effective solutions
- Proven experience in working collaboratively to positively influence and promote a positive safety culture resulting in improved safety performance
- Ability to deliver effective training programs
