The OpportunityWe are currently seeking a Health Safety and Environment (HSE) Advisor to join our Mackay-based team. In this permanent full-time role, you will advise on and support the company's strategy to prevent harm to its people and the business, by maintaining and promoting HSE systems and processes while making recommendations to establish best practice standards.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesReporting to the National Safety Manager, your main responsibilities will include:
- Establish and maintain honest and transparent relationships with all Stakeholders.
- In conjunction with the National Safety Manager and other major stakeholders, maintain and update the Integrated Management System Manual
- Support and maintain International Standards Organisation (ISO) compliance, by maintaining the internal and external audit program, along with collating and tracking audit findings.
- Maintain registers for non‐conformance/CPAR, and local risk, legal compliance, environmental and equipment maintenance registers.
- Provide advice to all levels of the organisation across all matters related to HSE.
- Maintain, update and implement safety policies and procedures.
- Travel to other branches to roll out company initiatives and conduct regular audits/area inspections.
- Manage, facilitate and coordinate all investigations following safety events.
- Provide administrative and direct support for workers' compensation, injury management and return to work programs.
- Support all Health and Wellness initiatives.
- Undertake Risk Assessments and help facilitate Risk Register Review workshops.
- Proactively follow and promote the company Core Values, HSE Strategy and HSE Plan on a Page (PoP)
- Regularly review the site safety induction and recommend updates as required.
- Produce reports such as monthly safety statistics, environmental and sustainability reporting i.e. APCO reporting, monthly reporting for Group QA Compliance Manager.
- Attend daily Pre-start Meetings.
To be considered for this position you will ideally have:
- Minimum four years' experience in a similar role
- Minimum of Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety
- Demonstrated experience with developing and implementing HSE procedures/processes; workers' compensation regulation, injury management and return to work programs; conducting incident investigations and implementing follow up plans
- Ability to work with a wide range of people and communicate effectively at all levels
- Ability to travel to other HEPI branches inclusive of interstate travel
- Experience working on mine and Industrial sites and familiarization with the WHS requirements
