We have an extensive portfolio of projects, delivering large and complex solutions, including terminal expansions, engineering procurement, tank and bridge construction and remediation projects.
Due to an increase in project requirements, we are seeking two proactive and experienced Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Advisors with thorough working knowledge of Australian standards to join our multidisciplinary team on fixed term, project-based contracts. These roles will see the successful candidates based on one of two critical infrastructure tank construction projects in Darwin. As part of the Saunders International group, you will support the delivery of the project with a key focus on one team, one goal - zero harm.
The ideal candidates must have proven site-based experience in contributing to the development, implementation and maintenance of HSE Management Systems, incident investigations, injury management systems, auditing, and training of employees. Fundamental to the role is the ability to build and sustain a positive safety culture across a diverse workforce that ensures the project is delivered safely and effectively.
Your responsibilities include:
- Assist Project Managers, Site Supervisors and Contractors in managing workplace health and safety, including providing timely and relevant advice on all safety related matters onsite.
- Assist the Project Manager in the preparation, implementation and maintenance of systems, plans, procedures and strategies.
- Review and develop all work SWMS.
- Develop and deliver Inductions, Toolbox’s and pre-starts, where required.
- Conduct daily, weekly, monthly site inspections according to company policy.
- Review and manage sub-contractor documentation and site activities.
- Assist in rehabilitation and return to work of injured or ill employees.
- Lead ICAMs - investigations of incidents & near misses.
- Deliver HSE training to site personnel.
- Ensure site HSE registers are up-to-date and reports submitted on time.
To be successful in the role you will have:
- Tertiary qualification in Health, Safety or Environment or related discipline
- 5+ years or more experience in managing health, safety and / or environment in a construction environment.
- Ability to engage with and coach Saunders personnel.
- An innovative approach to building a strong HSE culture.
- A detailed understanding of WHS, Injury Management and Environmental legislation.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to set own goals to ensure the HSE KPI’s and deliverables are met.
- Strong computer skills – particularly MS Office Suite.
