Job description

This exciting opportunity will require relocation to Katherine, Northern Territory and comes with comprehensive relocation assistance and attractive remote working allowances to support your transition.

We are Northrop Grumman Australia. Part of an 85,000 strong global Defence organisation, over 800 talented employees in Australia are leveraging our global resources to deliver a superior Australian Defence capability. As we build our business and our capabilities, we are also building a reputation as a great place to work. Help us define what is possible for our nation and for your career.

Join our esteemed team at Northrop Grumman as an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Advisor, where safety isn't just a policy, it's a core value deeply ingrained in our organisation. In this pivotal role, you'll be instrumental in fostering a culture where health and safety are more than priorities — they're the essence of our daily operations.

Your Role:

As the EHS Advisor at our dynamic Tindal NT site, your mission is to lead workforce engagement, transforming health and safety practices into a deeply rooted culture within our organisation. In this impactful role, you’ll implement our comprehensive Safety, Health, and Wellbeing, Environment, and Sustainability Strategy, focusing on engaging every team member. Your approach will extend beyond compliance, aiming to inspire and instil a proactive safety mindset across all levels of our workforce. Responsibilities include identifying and mitigating workplace hazards, conducting extensive safety assessments, and leading protective measures. You’ll be crucial in educating and empowering our employees, fostering an environment where each individual advocates for safety. With your expertise, underpinned by a Certificate IV in Work, Health, and Safety, and significant experience, you’ll play a central role in upholding the highest standards of safety compliance and practice. Holding a defence clearance is essential for this vital position.

About You:

We’re searching for an EHS Advisor who excels in creating engaging, educational, and empowering safety environments, particularly in high-risk and complex settings. Your track record should demonstrate your skill in fostering a culture of safety, showcasing your ability to transform health and safety from policies on paper to lived values and actions. A Certificate IV in Work, Health, and Safety, along with extensive experience in this specialised field, will underpin your capacity to make a significant impact. Your strengths should include exemplary communication, collaborative leadership, and an innovative approach to risk management. A defence clearance is required, affirming your commitment to our stringent safety and security standards.

As our EHS Advisor, you won’t just be part of the team; you’ll be a key architect in nurturing a pervasive culture of safety within NGA.

What we Offer:
Whatever your role, life stage or background, you can shape your career here in your way with highly challenging work, great colleagues and career development, plus a range of flexible benefits and working patterns.

  • Professional Development – further education, leadership development, professional industry memberships and unlimited access to a range of online training
  • Purchased annual leave
  • Salary packaging including novated car leases
  • Generous paid parental leave
  • Volunteer Leave
  • Health & Wellbeing program
  • Employee Assistance Program.

Everyone Matters:
Doing the Right Thing and Sharing Success are two values underpinning how we behave at Northrop Grumman. Here, everyone matters and we proudly encourage individuals from all backgrounds and all abilities to apply to join our diverse and inclusive workforce. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are welcome and encouraged to apply.

As a Defence security clearance is required for this role, you must be an Australian Citizen. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are applicable, as such your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role. You will also need to satisfy police checks and employment screening verification.
