RiverCity Ferries is a subsidiary of Kelsian Group Limited, contracted to operate and maintain the Brisbane City Council’s Ferry fleet with associated infrastructure. The network of 26 terminals is serviced by 30 vessels over a 20km stretch of the Brisbane River, moving over 5 million passengers a year. A Maintenance Facility at Rivergate Marina, together with an Operation Base at Hawthorne form the primary places maintenance is performed.
About You

  • Certificate IV or higher in OHS/WHS
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role

About the Role
The requirements listed above will be complimented by experience which ensures success in the following key functions of the position:
  • Maintaining and continually improving the HSEQ Document System and Vessel Safety Management Systems
  • Assisting the General Manager promote a culture of safety awareness, injury and incident prevention
  • Promoting a safe working environment and the ongoing development of risk management processes
  • Continually improving Management and Employee education and awareness
  • Monitoring HSEQ training needs, marine safety training and the completion of training and drills
  • Monitoring changes and amendments to legislation and updating systems accordingly
  • Managing hazard and incident reporting and monitoring the close out and effectiveness of Actions
  • Coordinating workers compensation and return to work policies and procedures.
  • Conducting effective Incident Investigations to determine contributing factors and root cause analysis
  • Conducting vessel and workplace inspections, risk assessments and audits
  • Analysing trends in HSEQ performance and making recommendations to management for improvement
This role reports to the General Manager, RiverCity Ferries and as part of the leadership team, you will need to work within a team environment to manage risk and ensure contract and regulatory compliance at all times.
As the business operates 365 days a year, flexibility and availability outside normal business hours may be required.
