About the Role
The Human Centred Designer is responsible for ensuring the University's information technology solutions are designed and developed with the end-user experience in mind.
You will lead and champion Human Centred Design initiatives, which typically involves researching, analysing, and evaluating user needs and behaviours and then recommending approaches to improve the end-user experience. You will identify strategic areas for improvement and recommend solutions to meeting goals efficiently.
You will have an important role in shaping the student and staff digital experience, leading and working across multiple and often complex initiatives within an Agile Release Train (ART), They will advocate for a diverse range of customers and end users, and champion inclusion on the initiatives.

About You
As the Human Centred Designer, you will have:
- Extensive experience as a User Experience (UX/UI) Designer and demonstrated experience applying HCD principles and practices in a complex environment.
- Proven ability to create design solutions that harmonise functionality and aesthetics from a user centred perspective.
- Knowledge of design tools and software, enabling creation of visually engaging and intuitive designs aligned with user expectations.
- Strong understanding of various user experience research methods and their strategic application for gaining insights into user behaviours, preferences, and pain points, resulting in informed design decisions.
- Demonstrated skill in presenting design solutions to diverse stakeholders in a clear and concise manner, fostering understanding among cross-functional teams.
- Outstanding problem-solving skills including capacity to identify complex design challenges and develop innovative solutions.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, emphasising ability to articulate design concepts and recommendations effectively.
- Proven ability to facilitate workshops and discussions to drive productive and inclusive collaboration among stakeholders.
- Proven ability of applying best practice accessibility guidelines to ensure that designs are inclusive and usable by all users.
- Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple projects/tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
Base Salary Range: $113,282 to $129,017 pa (HEW 8)
This role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary.
