The role
HVAC+R Field Service Technician
Due to growth in the company, we are looking for our next team member to join us at SSG.
We have a vacancy for a full time HVAC+R Technician to join our team working on Railcar and Locomotive Cab HVAC units. The work would be primarily based at our Wetherill Park facility, however, at various times you would be required to attend Rail Depot locations located across Sydney and the greater Sydney area for on-site unit service and repairs.
A Trade Qualified Mechanic with previous field service experience – preferably with dual refrigeration/electrical qualifications and with a Refrigerant Handling Licence, would be suitable.
As a HVAC Technician, you will be required to:
- Service, repair and fault find maintenance components and equipment
- You will be welding, painting and cleaning components
- Using hand tools, hoists and cranes
- Completing Job Cards and time sheets at the end of each job
- Participating in pre-work briefings and proactively coming up with solutions
- Work safely and abide by our policies and procedures (and those of our customers if working off-site).
- Be proactive on tools and lead team by example in workshop and onsite.
- WHS Responsibilities including (but limited to); maintain a clean and organised work environment, follow all safe work procedures (including the Rail Industry Guidelines), abide by our WHS Policies (both formal and informal), not place yourself or others at risk of injury and report hazards and injuries to management.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need the following experience, qualification and skills:
- Refrigeration and Air Conditioning trade certificate and trade experience.
- Refrigeration licence. (ARCTICK Licence)
- Additional electrical qualifications would be an advantage, but not essential.
- Must hold a current NSW Drivers Licence
- Refrigeration/HVAC trade certificate and trade experience.
- Brown and Blue Tip welding experience.
- D and/or S electrical permit - preferred
- Ability to read both electrical, installation diagrams, manuals and refrigeration schematic drawings and diagrams.
- Ability to work as a member of a team and with minimal supervision if required.
- Excellent time management skills and prioritise work schedule.
- Excellent English, communication and people skills.
- Ability to use initiative and have a strong work ethic.
- Have a neat presentation and be punctual.
