About the position
We have a new, exciting opportunity available for an ICT Systems and Security Administrator, within our ICT Services section. This highly technical role is focused on ensuring software and hardware effectively supports organisational needs, with some of your key accountabilities as below:
- Systems Administration: Administer, monitor, and manage our physical, virtual, and cloud-based ICT infrastructure
- Maintenance and Backup: Manage, monitor, test, and improve backup and restoration processes.
- Cybersecurity Administration: Manage, patch, and update servers and endpoints. Implement ASD Essential 8 compliance projects. Manage SIEM implementation in conjunction with vendor and other ICT Operations staff.
- Stakeholder Support and Communication: Support end users through training, assistance, and user documentation. Manage high quality communications across stakeholder groups.
You possess strong knowledge and a minimum of five years’ experience in systems administration or IT infrastructure management in diverse IT environments, and:
- Experience in using advanced techniques in installing, testing, troubleshooting, administering, and maintaining PCs, printers, servers, networking equipment, storage infrastructure and related equipment, and software.
- Sound knowledge of network configuration, PC and server operating systems, PC management software, and backup solutions.
- Knowledge and understanding of ASD’s Essential 8, experience in vulnerability management, experience delivering cybersecurity uplift projects, and ICT security best practices.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft software products including Windows 2016-2022 Server, Microsoft 365 (including Exchange), Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, Terminal Services/Remote Desktop, and Certificate Services.
- Sound knowledge of virtualization technologies (specifically ESX/VSphere) and backup systems (VEEAM), Linux operating Systems and software, Dell switching/routing technology, application-based ‘next gen’ firewall and VPN solutions (Palo Alto PANOS/GlobalProtect).
- Some knowledge of Cloud based platforms - preferably Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Additional requirements/qualifications
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant IT discipline, i.e., computer science or computer engineering or equivalent certification in systems administration and support and/or cybersecurity.
- The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate an established history of continuous professional development.
- Must be available to perform a set amount of on-call after hours support.
