The role
You will be responsible for providing commercially balanced legal services and advice to the business with a particular focus on property. This role will suit a lawyer with a strong property and commercial and retail leasing background. This opportunity is available on either 3 or 4 days per week.
The In House Legal Counsel will work as part of a dynamic team of six In House lawyers. The Legal team also advises on general commercial contracts, trade practices issues, franchising, privacy, intellectual property, technology and litigation. The Legal team uses a business partnering approach to support the business to implement strategic and commercial initiatives whilst minimising legal risk.
We need you to
- Draft, review and negotiate AFLs, retail and commercial leases, licences and all related legal documents for our National lease portfolio.
- Provide legal advice relating to property transactions and obligations under existing contracts to support 7-Eleven’s strategy and business activities. This advice should be commercially astute, practical and solutions focussed.
- Provision of ad hoc advice on property, environmental, construction and asset management matters.
- Provision of supplementary legal education to the business as a risk mitigation measure.
- Meaningful contributor to improving the team’s efficiency and effectiveness.
What’s in your toolkit?
- Law degree is mandatory, with experience working in a private practice or In House environment, specialising in retail and commercial leasing (minimum 3 years PQE).
- Experience in a retail property, franchising, construction and/or procurement would be advantageous but not essential.
- Professionalism, high integrity, ability to maintain confidentiality and a high degree of discretion is essential.
- Ability to effectively influence both internal and external stakeholders is mandatory.
