Support Worker - Independent Contractor
Yellowbird is fully registered with the NDIS and therefore is an audited company with stringent training and on-boarding requirements. To be the right fit to work with us, you must already have:
Essential:
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Have an ABN, understanding that this is a true Contractor position, and you'll need to organise your own taxation and superannuation.
- Have Contractor Insurance (PL & PI)
- Have a NSW Driver's License, vehicle registration & insurance
- Relevant tertiary qualifications [desirable]
- Be willing and able to use systems and produce reports, visit clients, complete tracking via shift login/out & (notes) in Caremaster
- Your own business equipment such as mobile phone for use of business apps
- Comply with the NDIS Code of Conduct
- Your own complaints management and resolution system
- Your own incident management system

- Be able to get, or already have a current First Aid Certificate and updated CPR.
- Be willing and able to complete our complementary training (all online through our Learning Platform, done in your own time).
Possible Shifts:
Lochinvar & Telarah Shifts are:
**client preferences for their support team are female and mature age
0600-1400
1400-2200 [active] & 2200-0600 [sleepover]
Karuah Shifts are:
0900-1200/1300 Monday-sunday
Dungog Shifts are:
Up to 5 shifts per week
Paterson Shifts are;
Wed and Thursday 0900-1300
About You
This position will suit Support Worker professionals with experience, who can easily adapt their style and approach to each individual client. This position as an Independent Contractor is to back fill as a relief for Yellowbird employees on roster. This position would suit someone with flexibility who is available at short notice for any shifts on the care roster day or night, weekday or weekend.
About your new role
- Person centered active support with clients to gain an empathetic understanding of their goals, wants and needs.
- Collaborate with their support teams
- Administering medication and adhering to all individual support plans.
- Completing concise and factual case notes, shift reports, and incident reports.
- Providing personal care, including toileting (bottle & bed pan), showering (& bed bath), and feeding (meal management).
- Manual handling tasks such as bed positioning, hoist operation, commode assistance, and manual/power wheelchair support.
- Performing household management tasks, including cleaning, washing, ironing, meal preparation, and cooking fresh wholesome meals.
- Implementing behaviour management strategies to support clients' emotional and mental well-being.
- Assisting with health appointments and social outings to promote community inclusion.
- Assisting with light gardening tasks to create a pleasant living space.
- A strong understanding of person-centered active support or a genuine willingness to embrace this model of care
- Demonstrated skills in providing assistance to adult clients with intellectual/physical disabilities, medical needs, and mental health diagnoses
- Demonstrated common sense and a proactive attitude towards learning and development.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, respect, and uphold professional boundaries.
