Five Bridges is an esteemed non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Our Murri Sisters Mobile Support Service (MSMSS) and Cultural Advisory Service to the Redlands High Risk Team (HRT) are vital in our mission to reduce domestic and family violence and provide culturally appropriate support.
Role Overview
As a DFV Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in delivering mobile support services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, children, and young people experiencing domestic and family violence. This position requires a passionate individual committed to making a significant impact in the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide client-focused service delivery, develop goals, and ensure safety and support.
- Manage cases effectively, including documentation, goal setting, and client engagement.
- Communicate respectfully and inclusively, ensuring all interactions align with organizational values.
- Collaborate with team members to enhance program policies and community relationships.
- Adhere to compliance and office maintenance standards, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
- Providing cultural guidance and acting as the identified Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander victim-survivor advocate in HRT meetings.
- Building networks and pathways to culturally appropriate DFV supports.
- Providing broader advice on appropriate Integrated Service Responses (ISRs) to meet the unique needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people referred to the HRT (the victim-survivor, their children, and the person using violence) including consideration of local protocols, community considerations, first/preferred languages, family/kinship groups.
- Building the cultural capacity of the HRT, including through formal and informal training, opportunities, and activities to engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, where appropriate.
Essential Selection Criteria
- Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
- Possession of an unrestricted Queensland Driver's License.
- Working with Children Blue Card
- Own reliable transport and current Blue Card.
- First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
- Experience or qualifications in Community Services, or a strong willingness to pursue this training.
