At , our aim is to be a hub for innovative health research, education, and workforce development across the Northern Territory. We engage with students, community, and stakeholders to provide critical programs, such as the Northern Territory Medical Program, Paramedicine, Rural Clinical School, and the University Department of Rural Health.Our postgraduate education pathways (Remote Health Practice program), provides workforce development through Indigenous health and clinical skills training, and we have a community driven research program led by researchers committed to improving health outcomes. We work alongside Poche SA+NT focussing on Indigenous leadership capacity development and developing the Indigenous health workforce. All activities are driven by our values which focus on the long-term and short-term needs of the NT community.About the RoleFlinders University is looking for an Indigenous Engagement Support Officer in Yolngu Country (Gove District Hospital) who can establish and build links to the community. Leading cultural respect, you will assist in developing opportunities for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander youth to attend allied health outreach activities. This may include collaborating with individuals, families, communities, Government agencies, academic networks and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander allied health and health practitioner networks.The filling of this position is intended to constitute a special/equal opportunity measure under section 8 (1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth) and s57 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1995 (NT). The position is therefore only open to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander applicants.About YouWe are looking for an excellent communicator, who can demonstrate their ability to build relationships with people from a range of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, in a culturally respectful, equitable and inclusive way. You will have great organisational skills, able to prioritise and meet deadlines in a busy environment. In addition, our candidate for these roles will need to identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and is recognised as such by an appropriate Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander body.
