It is committed to improving the quality of teaching and research at UTS by facilitating active links with the Indigenous community, higher education institutions, and other professions with particular emphasis on Australia's growth as a multi-cultural nation.Detailed DescriptionAbout the roleThe Indigenous Outreach Assistant will support the planning, coordinating and participation in activities and events to promote study opportunities at UTS for Indigenous students. The role is critical in the supporting the coordination of the U@Uni Academy and the Galuwa enrichment programs; key schools engagement experiences. The position, under the direction of the Senior Indigenous Outreach Officer will engage with local, regional and remote schools and from time to time attend careers markets, job fairs and community related activities and events.About YouAs the Indigenous Outreach Assistant, you will:
- Provide professional administrative support to the and Outreach and Events team.
- Support Jumbunna Outreach team with preparing documents, data entry and general administrative support in outreach and events activities.
- Assist with organising venues, catering etc. for on and off campus meetings / events.
- Work with the Administration team in Jumbunna to ensure the Jumbunna Outreach team's filing system are up to date and documents are kept according to the compliance code.
- Provide reception coverage, where required, to the Reception area of Jumbunna IIER including answering and/or redirecting phone calls and face to face enquiries from both within Jumbunna IIER and externally from students and the public.
- Efficient organisational skills including the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and assist in implementing administrative processes
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and a willingness to help others
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Experience in creating and manipulating documents, spreadsheets and Powerpoint presentations
- Experience working with a diverse group of people within a demanding environment
