• Remuneration: $116,370 to $127,294 pa (HEW7) (inclusive of $98,334 to $107,565 salary pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading)
• Location: Gardens Point

For this position it is a genuine occupational requirement that it be filled by an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person as permitted by and arguable under sections 25, 104 and 105 of the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act (1991).

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Indigenous Research Officer to join Carumba Institute, Indigenous Strategy, Chancellery Division.

The Indigenous Research Officer will be responsible for developing relationships and partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, Traditional Owners, and community organisations to support co-design, co-lead research and Indigenous-led research frameworks for the Carumba Institute.

This will be achieved through, growing a critical mass of Indigenous Australian researchers, building a world-class Indigenous Australian research environment, building Indigenous Australian research capacity across the university, and strengthening engagement with Indigenous Australian communities..

What you need to succeed

1. A tertiary qualification and/or related work experience in research data analytics with experience in data collection analyses to enable evidence-based decision making (experience in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander studies, crime and justice or comparable subject matter area highly regarded).
2. Demonstrated ability to identify, build and develop collaborative relationships with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people, communities, and broader stakeholders.
3. Experience representing an organisation and/or research team in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities’, respectfully delivering against organisational objectives and planning and preparation of research proposals.
4. High level written and oral communication skills with the ability to represent research effectively internally and externally, including in written and visual formats, and presentation of research outcomes at conferences.
5. Demonstrated knowledge of research protocols, experimental design, and planning as involved in developing research projects and reporting against milestones.
