Job description

This busy role will be required to be an active member of the Events Department, taking responsibility primarily for the majority of the Indoor VolleyballLeagues & Competitions within the Events Portfolio. This will require excellent administration, time management and practical experience in event, league & competition delivery. The person in this role will be responsible for some of the biggest Volleyball leagues in Australia by performing a wide range of tasks ensuring successful planning, communication, delivery and reporting.
The person in this role will work closely with the Events Co-ordinator & the General Manager – Community Engagement to deliver the NSW Sydney Volleyball League (Senior & Youth) and the event delivery of the National Super League. In addition, the person in this role will oversee the State & Schools Cup events and assist with the delivery of other targeted special events (e.g. NSW Beach Volleyball Championships and Grass Volleyball opportunities).
It is critical that the person in this role has the proficient ability to operate in a small team, maximising the resources available to deliver an acceptable revenue contribution and be instrumental in the culture and structure of the paid & volunteer workforce. Technical knowledge of Volleyball will not be required for this role, and in-place experience delivering on sporting leagues, competitions and events is critical to success.
KEY FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES & OUTCOMES
League, Cometition & Event Management

  • Lead the Sydney Volleyball League (Open & Youth) in full
  • Event Manage home rounds of Super League in collaboration with other departments
  • Plan, deliver and review identified leagues, competitions & events in the portfolio, including but not limited to competition, logistics, budgeting, planning and management of staff & officials
  • Oversee and support the Event Coordinator to ensure successful activities are delivered within their portfolio (e.g. State Cups & Schools Cups)
  • Be a senior contributor to the Events Workforce Plan encompassing staff, contractors, suppliers, officials and volunteers
  • Work closely with all internal departments to ensure a collaborative and consistent delivery of operations across all leagues, competitions & events
  • Co-ordination with internal and external suppliers and stakeholders
  • Support the General Manager – Community Engagement in the creation of annual calendars and plans and other projects as required
Tasks Expected of all Volleyball NSW Staff
  • Assist with the coordination of annual activities, including Club Workshops and the AGM
  • Maintain and increase brand awareness for all Volleyball NSW Products throughout the community
  • Equipment maintenance & stocktake, including the management of storage
  • General office management, including maintenance, answering phones, booking meeting rooms etc.
  • Management of Website and Facebook etc., specific to the role
  • Development, review and updating of Volleyball NSW Policies, Procedures and Regulations
  • Assist in the review of any staff or volunteers that a person oversees/is responsible for
  • Support at major VNSW Events and activities
  • Any other duties as deemed appropriate by Management from time to time
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
  • Use of Safe 365 in all identified events
  • Ensure budgets are created, followed & reported against for all identified leagues, competitions & events
  • Increase in Volleyball NSW Membership through responsible activities
  • Effective documented reviews conducted and as required, improvement plans implemented

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS
  • The role is a full-time role of 38 hours per week within a flexible structure paid fortnightly
  • Salary $60,000- $65,000 per annum plus Superannuation
  • The position will require some out of hours work, intrastate and potential interstate travel
  • Four weeks annual leave and ten days personal leave applies on a prorated basis
  • Annual performance reviews will be conducted

SKILLS and EXPERIENCE
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in a sports Competition Management environment
  • Excellent time management, verbal and written communication skills
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Current Senior First Aid / CPR
  • Current Drivers License
  • Administrative experience, including developing and delivering on plans, systems, processes, policies, budgets and reporting
