About the Role
Reporting to the operations manager, you will work as a member of the team, blasting and painting steel products safely and assist in the workshop and yard/dispatch areas as required. You will be based at our Olympic Dam, Roxby Downs location. This opportunity is available as a residential or DIDO role.
Key Responsibilities
- Read job cards, drawing, work orders and production schedules to determine product or job instructions and specifications.
- Set up and operate tools common to the blast and paint trade
- Observe and uphold all policies and procedures of the company at all times and assist with the implementation of improvements.
- Safely and efficiently operate blast equipment to remove corrosive surface from fabricated components in accordance with job specifications in preparation for application of protective coatings.
- Safely and efficiently undertake all other duties in the paint/blast bay, yard/dispatch and workshop areas as instructed by Operations Manager
- Prepare and apply protective coatings to fabricated components in accordance with job specifications, standards and data sheets.
- Perform general housekeeping and maintenance of work areas, equipment, tools and facilities.
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in blasting / painting in a similar role
- Working knowledge of standard practices and methods of the abrasive blasting and painting trade
- Demonstrated experience using reliable, safe work practices
- Flexible approach and cooperative team attitude
- Genuine passion for industrial painting/blasting
- Motivated and willingness to undertake any additional training
- Willingness to assist in other areas as required
- Forklift license will be highly regarded
