Job Description: MPV are currently seeking expressions of interest for short - long term projects onsite within Gladstone.
- Painter/Blaster
Duties:
- Select the appropriate paint or mix paints according to a predetermined formula per manufacture and or customer specifications
- Operate equipment to clean, wash, strip, and or sandblast to remove corrosion, otherwise prepare fabricated steel items for application of paint and or other protective coatings
- Operate spray equipment or other painting or product coating equipment as required, maintain equipment
- Clean and maintain painting and coating, ventilation, compressed air and personal protective equipment
- Take environmental reading prior to and during the painting and coating process
- Ability to fill out and coordinate paperwork flow
- Adhere to workplace health & Safety
Direct one or more helpers & be able to take direction.
* Operate overhead cranes and or forkliftsPhysical Requirements:
Frequent walking and climbing (stairs, ladders, terrain)
Frequent lifting (up to and including 25kg)
Frequent bending, twisting and standing
Exposure to working outdoors in all-weather conditions
Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week including weekend assignments as required
Other Requirements:
- Excellent organisational skills
- High level of attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self motivated & able to take instruction
- Must have reliable transportation & Valid Drivers licence
- Must be able to pass drug testing & medical requirements
- Hardworking, punctual & excellent attendance record
- Able to maintain equipment, pre-starts, keep accurate records
Ideal candidates
- Painter – Certificate 3 in Surface Preparation & Coatings (preferable)
- 3 + years experience in Sandblasting
- Forklift licence
