Oysters Tasmania is the peak body for Tasmania's oyster farmers, who produce a premium product through low impact farming. The CEO, who reports to a board including oyster farmers from across Tasmania, is looking for an Industry Development Officer to help deliver projects crucial to the industry's future. Projects include proving the viability of oyster farming beyond the intertidal zone, and providing real-time information about on-farm conditions in collaboration with the food safety regulator.
The role requires strong interpersonal, communication, and project management skills, scientific rigour, motivation, and an ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Tertiary-level qualifications in science are essential, and qualifications and experience in aquaculture are highly desirable.
The role is based at our office in Sandy Bay, and involves liaising with oyster farmers at their farms across Tasmania. A drivers licence and car are required.
The salary range for the position is $85,000 to $100,000, plus compulsory superannuation, a phone, and reimbursement for travel expenses.
