Tagai State College has secured approx. $2 million in funding through DYJESBT to run the SchoolTech program for Grade 11 and 12 students in 2024-2026 (3 years), with the vision of making this sustainable into the future. SchoolTech enables students to combine their QCE studies, Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses and Structured Work Placement and is focused on preparing students for employment and facilitating a smooth transition from school to work. Within SchoolTech, there is a strong focus on sustainable partnerships, particularly with TAFE Queensland, Employers and Industry bodies.

Tagai State College comprises 16 Primary Campuses and 1 Secondary Campus across 15 Islands and 48 000 square kilometres in the beautiful Torres Strait. This position is based at the Secondary Campus on Thursday Island.

About the Role:
Responsibilities include, but not limited to;
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with employers, training providers and industry bodies to facilitate the SchoolTech program
- Coordinate employer events such as Careers Market, Meet and Greets and Business breakfasts
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the business plan and promotional materials, including marketing and communication strategies and initiatives.
- Coordinate Year 13 Transitions, to ensure Year 12 graduates have a clearly articulated Post schooling pathway.
- Source and manage structured work placements
- Source School Based Apprenticeship and Traineeship opportunities
- Assist in student recruitment
- Collaborate with the Senior Schooling team to ensure alignment between student pathways and employment opportunities, and to monitor and track progress data of students
- Promote SchoolTech students to employers
- Be line managed by the Principal Project Officer-SchoolTech
