The NIF project will oversee the replacement of trains carrying customers from Sydney to the Central Coast, Newcastle, the Blue Mountains and the South Coast. UGL will operate a new maintenance facility and provide maintenance and asset management services to the new fleet for 15 years.
About your role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Infield Delivery Manager is responsible for the support and leadership of our Mobile Maintainers at the Maintenance and Commissioning Facilities, performance of the maintenance activities on the NIF Train, whilst ensuring all work is performed in a timely, cost effective and safe manner for the project.
You will be required to demonstrate leadership in safety, quality and environmental management this position is responsible and accountable for supporting and maintaining a safe and healthy workplace and for the adherence to company policies and other applicable laws, regulations and standards for the workplace.
Other key responsibilities will include:
- Provision of leadership, direction, inspirational management, detailed activity plans and clear instruction to all team members, ensuring all individuals are working in accordance with rostered work schedules, agreed work instructions, quality and safety requirements
- Working closely with the Technical Co-Ordinator to plan and co-ordinate the movement of trains around the network in order to complete repairs ensuring the train meets the availability and reliability requirements
- Support, participate and manage the investigation into incidents involving safety, quality, unavailability and train faults as required by Sydney Trains or the Infield Maintenance Manager
- Build effective relationships and consult internally with the Operations teams, ensuring that open and honest communications are maintained, and any problems/ concerns are raised immediately.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to drive a continuous improvement culture, introducing tools to help team members become self-sufficient in process improvement
- Leadership and supervisory experience, ideally within a Production or Maintenance environment.
- Proven experience in supporting safety, quality and environmental aspects of an operation to the relevant legislation and contract requirements
- Knowledge of business improvement techniques (for example, lean and 5S).
- Experience and understanding of resource planning systems and procedures
- Sound understanding of budgetary, cost control and performance measurement activities
- Strong communication skills including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing demands.
