Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Integrity & Information Program Leader, the Information Access Officer will play a crucial role in managing and providing expert advice on matters related to Information Access legislation, privacy compliance and ethical considerations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Case management of applications under the RTI Act, IP Act, and Evidence Act, ensuring statutory obligations are met.
- Providing confidential advice and assistance to internal and external stakeholders on Information Access legislation and privacy compliance.
- Preparation of decision notices and correspondence for external reviews in accordance with legislative requirements.
- Handling conflicts of interest, gift declarations, and privacy complaints with sensitivity and professionalism.
- Liaising with a diverse range of stakeholders, including council members, government agencies, and community organizations.
- Undertaking special projects as assigned by the Program Leader, such as drafting policies and delivering training sessions.
- Extensive practical experience and knowledge of Information Access legislation, privacy compliance, and ethical matters.
- Strong organizational, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to exercise discretion, tact, and diplomacy in handling sensitive information.
- Proactive approach with a commitment to maintaining high standards of productivity and professionalism.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in record-keeping and adherence to legislative requirements and timeframes.
- Willingness to undergo any necessary training to fulfill the requirements of the role.
