Role Detail

With flexibility to be Brisbane or Sydney based, and a balanced approach to WFH, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust security solutions to protect our organisation's information systems and infrastructure.

Reporting to the Information Security Manager, you will play a critical role in the continuous monitoring and improvement of our security posture, with a focus on the integration of cyber security tools and systems, detection engineering, and maintenance of our suite of industry leading security platforms.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the day-to-day operation of the core technologies used by the firm's Information Security team.
  • Assisting in the completion of Information Security audits and reviews, as required.
  • Acting as the first line incident response expert for cyber security incidents identified by the firm's security systems, external managed security service providers as well as the firm's internal Technology Service Desk.
  • Engineering and implementing integration solutions for our cyber security tools with existing systems to streamline security operations.
  • Configuring and troubleshooting security infrastructure devices, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, and patch management systems.
  • Managing the continuous monitoring, detection and analysis of potential intrusions in real time and through historical trending on security-relevant data sources in the firm's SIEM.
  • Developing and fine-tuning security event monitoring policies and procedures to enhance detection capabilities.
  • Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for all implemented security systems and procedures.
  • Conducting regular system audits to ensure compliance with security policies and standards.
  • Correlating incident data to identify specific vulnerabilities and make recommendations that enable expeditious remediation and security threats and risks.
  • Collaborating with other technical teams on project and business as usual initiatives and provide technical guidance and support on cyber security matters.
  • Providing technical guidance and mentorship to team members and stakeholders regarding Information Security best practices.
  • Staying current with the latest cyber security threats, trends, and technologies to continually improve our security posture.

About You

You will need:

  • Lateral thinking with systematic approach to troubleshooting and analysis of cyber security incidents and threats.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols and infrastructure designs; including, firewall functionality, routing, network segmentation, encryption, host and network intrusion detection systems, load balancing, and other network protocols.
  • Familiarity with cloud security controls and best practices in AWS or Azure environments.
  • A good understanding of attacker tactics, techniques and procedures, and familiarity with the MITRE ATT&CK Framework
  • Hands-on experience with security monitoring tools, SIEM solutions, EDR, and incident response.
  • Experience working on multiple operating systems and platforms.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation with languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex security issues and provide effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills with a collaborative and flexible work style with stakeholders at various levels.
  • Relevant security certifications such as Security Blue Team, SANS GIAC are highly valued.
  • Knowledge of the latest cyber security threats and trends, as well as an understanding of security best practices and frameworks.
