The mid level IT Support/Devops role is a hybrid helpdesk support and devops role supporting the wider business. Reporting directly to the IT Operations Manager, you will be responsible for daily helpdesk queries, and building a knowledge base for future IT support.
The role will support a small IT team, that has software development - full code/no code - aspects and operational IT infrastructure across three sites. Because this is a role that encapsulates both IT helpdesk operations and devops, it is a role that would suit a person that enjoys many aspects of IT and loves being flexible and wants to learn something new every day.
IT Support - Helpdesk
- Serve as the first point of contact for stakeholder seeking technical assistance over the phone or email
- Perform remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions
- Determine the best solution based on the issue and details provided by stakeholders
- Walk stakeholders through the problem-solving process
- Direct unresolved issues to the next level of support personnel
- Provide accurate information on IT products or services
- Record events and problems and their resolution in logs
- Follow-up and update customer status and information
- Pass on any feedback or suggestions by customers to the appropriate internal team
- Identify and suggest possible improvements on procedures
- Customer-oriented and cool-tempered
- A track record of following through on requirements, particularly external suppliers.
IT Support - Operations
- Provide experience as a help desk technician or other customer support role
- Tech savvy with working knowledge of office automation products, databases and remote control
- Maintain a good understanding of computer systems, mobile devices and other tech products
- Be able to diagnose and resolve basic technical issues
- Install and configure computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers, and scanners
- Monitor and maintain computer systems and networks
- Respond in a timely manner to service issues and requests
- Provide technical support across the company (this may be in person or over the phone)
- Set up accounts for new users
- Repair and replace equipment as necessary
- Test new technology
- Train junior staff
Stakeholder Support
- Partner with other stakeholder teams across all business units to develop necessary analysis and documentation in a collaborative way, communicating effectively and efficiently with production, managerial, and executive teams
- Evaluate, analyze, and communicate systems requirements on a continuing basis, and maintain systems processes, including the delivery of monthly status reports to all appropriate parties
- Develop meaningful and lasting relationships with partners for optimized systems integration, and respond to questions and concerns from managers and executives with supporting research and recommendations
- Excellent communicator with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
Systems Documentation
- Author and update internal and external documentation, and formally initiate and deliver requirements and documentation
- Provide practical experience generating process documentation and reports
- Maintain highly proficient technical writing capabilities
