You will have 4 to 5 years of hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and managing Windows and Linux server environments. This role requires expertise in maintaining server infrastructure, troubleshooting system issues, and ensuring optimal performance and security.
This is a Brisbane based, 6 month contract role with a strong chance of extension. We operate a hybrid flexible work policy, which includes work from home.
Your role will include the following responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and maintain Windows and Linux server environments.
- Configure and manage server hardware and software components.
- Administering Windows, Linux, network and Cloud infrastructure and related management software.
- Monitor system performance and implement optimisations to ensure reliability and efficiency.
- Administer user accounts, permissions, and access controls on Windows and Linux servers.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as system updates, patches, and backups.
- Implement security measures to protect server infrastructure from vulnerabilities and threats.
- Diagnose and resolve server-related issues, including performance bottlenecks and connectivity problems.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of server configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Generate regular reports on system performance, capacity, and security status.
You should have the following skills and experience:
- 4 to 5 years of professional experience in managing Windows and Linux server environments.
- Experience as an Engineer, Consultant, or an equivalent role within enterprise environments for managing Windows platforms (i.e. Win OSes 2016, 2019, 2022) and Red Hat Enterprise Linux platforms (i.e. RHEL7, 8, 9), Red Hat Network Satellite and Red Hat Virtualisation.
- Hands On experience with RHEL and Windows CIS benchmarks, with ability to review and implement recommendations.
- Expert in using servers management and configuration tools (i.e. SCCM, NPS, WSUS, Group policy, CHEF, GitLab, regedit etc)
- Knowledge of technologies like clustering, directory services, identity management, etc.
- Proficiency in administering Windows Server and Linux distributions (e.g., CentOS, Ubuntu, Red Hat).
- Automation and Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell for automating tasks and managing infrastructure efficiently.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and services (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
- Advanced knowledge of open-source cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) solutions like Red Hat OpenStack Platform, KVM, VMware, etc.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
