How will I help?
The Infrastructure Engineering Lead is responsible for providing expert services to support and advance Westpac Technology Infrastructure's development, design, and operations and for providing input into the strategic direction.
Your responsibilities will include:
Provide specialised third-level support and technical assistance on major issues and incidents to ensure issues are resolved within a timely manner.
Understand business continuity requirements and provide expertise in the development of Disaster Recovery plans to ensure effective Disaster Recovery plans are developed, documented, tested and implemented.
Undertake problem determination and root cause analysis for business impacting problems to ensure permanent corrective actions are implemented appropriately.
Plan, review and critique major proposed changes as required to ensure successful implementation of infrastructure changes.
Evaluate and provide expert recommendations in the design and implementation of infrastructure solutions to ensure the development and maintenance of effective technology infrastructure within the Westpac Group
Accountable for the stability and availability of technology infrastructure, for guiding capacity planning, and for monitoring and driving improvements to performance to ensure the stability and availability of technology infrastructure services to the business.
Provide high-level technical consultation to senior business/technology stakeholders to support relevant infrastructure partners and other business stakeholders.
Engage with relevant stakeholders to evaluate if infrastructure requirements can be defined in terms of existing or new services to ensure user requirements are understood and appropriately translated into infrastructure requirements.
Provide input into the development of technology strategies, standards and governance procedures to support the development of effective infrastructure strategy, standards and procedures.
Assess latest developments in infrastructure technology and continually evaluate and advise on operational aspects of new technology and its potential to enhance or replace existing systems to ensure that relevant new technologies are adopted.

What do I need?
To be set up for success in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:
Extensive relevant IT industry experience with at least five years in a highly technical role
Extensive experience in a complex IT infrastructure environment incorporating planning, implementation, operational management, configuration, and maintenance.
Expert knowledge in one or more relevant infrastructure domains with a broad understanding of multiple infrastructure technologies
Expert analysis, problem solving and troubleshooting and consultative skills.
A firm understanding of a financial services operating environment and core applications and products desirable.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Tertiary qualifications in IT or related discipline, or equivalent experience
Post graduate qualifications in IT or related discipline desirable
Relevant technical certifications such as CCIE, MCSE etc. desirable
