About the Role
Working as part of our technical team and reporting to the Infrastructure Team Leader, the Infrastructure Technician will carry out planned maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair on all system infrastructure assets across the business.
The Infrastructure Technician will also;
Work on infrastructure assets as directed by the Infrastructure Team Leader or upon Control Centre request, in a safe manner for the public and other parties;
Report defects and carrying out fault diagnosis and appropriate rectification of defects;
Isolate, earth, and reinstate power to, overhead line equipment and substation equipment in accordance with procedures;
Complete accurate written and/or IT system records of work carried out;
Assist or audit third party contractors working on the system;
Work on call as per the technical roster;
Work alone or in pairs according to the safety risks and procedures;
Perform risk management activities as required and as per procedures;
Service a range of equipment including overhead line, lighting, CCTV, TETRA radio systems, optical fibre, multi-service networks and DC traction power systems;
Service a range of mechanical equipment including rail track infrastructure, wash plant and pump equipment; and
Service a range of rail signalling equipment.
Rotating roster 4 weeks day shift, and 2 weeks night shift ( 10hr Shifts / 4 per week.
About you, your skills & experience
Essential Qualifications: Recognised apprenticeship in a technical trade;
Essential Experience: 3 to 5 years post-qualification experience;
Essential: Trade Certificate/Licence in Electrical or Traction Power Linesman;
Mandatory: Unrestricted Drivers Licence (preferably an MR or HR licence);
Preferred Experience: Maintenance experience in the rail industry;
Preferred: Familiarity with use of asset management and work order systems;
Preferred: Elevated Work Platform/Forklift/Dogging/Rigging Licence/HV Switching/Working at Height;
Proven knowledge and experience of working in a technically based environment;
Must meet medical requirements of Rail Safety Worker Category 1;
Must be able to work well as part of a team and autonomously in an industrial environment;
Must be willing and able to perform shift work in all weather across nights, week ends etc.
As part of the recruitment processes at KD, pre-employment checks include National Police Certificate and Rail Safety Worker Pre-employment Medical. Further to this, successful candidates will be required to provide a National Police Certificate where requested throughout employment and maintain their Rail Safety Medical status. Given the nature of the position you have applied for and, in particular, the duties and responsibilities that it includes, KD considers this to be a reasonable requirement. KD will assess a candidate’s and employee’s criminal record history against the inherent requirements of the relevant position before making a determination as to their suitability or otherwise for the role.
