About the Role
Fixed Term up to 12 months
The Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation Specialist will actively reduce the organisational impact of workplace injury through specialist advice.
As an allied health professional and Fire Rescue Victoria’s Rehabilitation Specialist, this position is responsible for: provision of individualised clinical consultations in conjunction with external treating professionals; design, development and delivery of educational workshops and physical health programs to a variety of operational and corporate audiences throughout the organisation.
Functional Accountabilities include:
- Coordination of case load of injured/ill employees who may exhibit complex co-morbidities;
- Adapts treatment methodologies, and prescribes and progresses acute phase intervention;
- Proficient application of Injury Prevention, rehabilitation exercise/strength & conditioning scientific principles in design, development, and delivery and continual enhancement of the physical resilience program. This includes education and exercise prescription to equip recruits with skills and knowledge required to prepare for the physical demands of operational duty; and tailored prescription to account for complex needs of individuals within each squad;
- Provision of timely, expert advice that informs and influences staff in decision making in relation to injury management, treatment, rehabilitation, and recurrence prevention, to facilitate optimal health experiences for all injury-affected on-shift personnel;
- Delivery of holistic, client-centred, evidence-based care in pursuit of and with accountability for achievement of performance targets relating to sustainable return to work and Injury Prevention.
What you will need to Succeed
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Exercise Physiology/ Rehabilitation, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy or other relevant allied health discipline – essential;
- Current professional registration/ accreditation within body membership (AHPRA/ESSA);
- Extensive professional experience including involvement with a range of clinical, athletic, hands on strength & conditioning and industrial/occupational environments, and with a spectrum of clientele spanning healthy population to high risk groups suffering complex co-morbidities.
- Extensive understanding of Injury Prevention, strand Rehabilitation scientific principles and frameworks, and an ability to apply these autonomously within the context of emergency service organisations.
- Current valid driver's license, (regional travel required).
