About the role of Innovation Manager
In this role, you will work directly with Head of Marketing to develop a rolling 3-year strategic innovation pipeline, based on current and forecast category trends, insights, the current retailer landscape, and considering technical and manufacturing constraints and requirements. You will ensure the innovation pipeline has a clear, strategic rationale to its evolution that leverages existing brand strengths as well as allowing the brand to stretch over time.
A summary of key responsibilities includes;
- Lead the development of new products from ideation through to building winning concepts, leveraging consumer, category and competitor insights;
- Estimate size of commercial opportunities and be able to develop high level product P&Ls;
- Project manage commercialisation of innovation projects, working closely with the Global Supply Chain team;
- Support broader Marketing and Sales teams to develop launch plans for new products;
- Lead external agencies in communications and artwork development;
- Carefully consider the role of packaging to develop recommendations that effectively bring the product concept to life and consider supply chain limitations;
- Lead cross functional teams to bring new products to life, including developing project plan timelines, managing team meetings, problem solving and escalating issues as required; and
- Retain accountability for ensuring projects meet KPIs – including launch timing and financial targets.
This is a role for a talented candidate with the ability to extract key insights from category, consumer and competitor data and combine this with ‘out of the box’ thinking. To be considered, your background and experience must meet the following requirements:
- Tertiary qualified with a degree in marketing, food science, business or similar;
- 5+ years’ experience in brand, innovation and new product development in FMCG;
- Demonstrated experience across several product categories (preferably in food);
- Proven examples of bringing products to life with successful commercial outcomes;
- Resourceful in developing insights, whilst managing budgets and investment;
- Ability to manage stakeholders at a variety of levels;
- Proven experience building relationships to engender collaboration and influence;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; and
- Able to work in a self-directed manner, but comfortable seeking help when needed.
