The Opportunity
We are currently looking for I&I Building Inspector role. The incumbent works collaboratively with the Division Manager, and consults with other stakeholders to determine the Section’s goals, direction, and culture, whilst promoting and fostering staff development and ongoing career progression. The occupant of this position will work in collaboration with staff at all levels to ensure the successful completion of allocated tasks.
The position is subject to limited guidance and direction from the Senior Leadership and Executive team, and has a high level of autonomy for the most part. Decisions will have significant impact Section-wide, and therefore may have a similar impact across the Company. As a consequence, communication responsibilities are considerable, maintaining close contact with other senior managers and the National Business Improvements Manager.
Scope of the Position
The I&I Building Inspector is accountable for the undertaking the following tasks:
- Practical Completion Inspections (PCI’s)
- Structural inspections of the following for defects during construction:
- Roof frames
- Brickwork
- Timber wall frames and trusses
- Concrete suspended slabs
- Practical Completion Inspections (PCI’s)
- Dilapidation surveys
- Structural Pre-purchase inspections
- Other tasks as required by manager
Who are we looking for?
This position requires an individual who has a strong client focus and a high level of drive & motivation to provide innovative & practical engineering designs that meet client requirements. In addition, the successful applicant will have:
- Registered builder would be preferable or experience with site construction;
- Excellent communication skills, in relation to dealing with customers, clients, and all levels of staff;
- Leadership skills, in relation to setting and maintaining ethics and values (particularly by example) within the Division, especially with mentees;
- High level of initiative and proactivity, especially in relation to creative problem-solving;
- High-level report writing skills;
- A sound understanding of mentoring and coaching techniques;
- A sound understanding of the BCA and Australian Standards;
- A valid Australian Drivers’ License;
