The primary role of a Learning Support Assistant (Integration Aide) is to support the integration of specified student(s).
A secondary role is to assist in other ways not directly in support of those students, but which assist the class teacher in facilitating the integration process overall.
· To assist classroom teachers in the preparation of material for lessons for students by typing, enlarging, copying or reading work onto tapes.
· To assist the Integration Team in helping the student to develop social interaction with their peers, and to develop/implement programs to improve self-esteem.
· To assist Integration Teachers, Classroom Teachers and Year Level Coordinators to help specified students in the transition process from primary to post primary schools in terms of school procedures and routines.
· To assist students with mobility where necessary to classrooms, in playgrounds, on excursion, etc. This need for assistance will very according to the individual student¿s requirements.
· To assist the student with personal hygiene ¿ toileting, clothing, washing, feeding etc. where mutual agreement is reached between the Learning Support Assistants (Integration Aides) and Administration. Staff undertaking these duties must have appropriate information and training.
· To assist the student in classroom and at recreation times with communication. This assistance may include note taking, use of augmentative communication equipment, etc.
· To be a resource person for the Program Support Group where necessary.
· To attend in service training sessions when required.
· Other duties as directed by the Principal/Business Manager.
Experience as a Learning Support Assistant (Integration Aide) in a secondary school would be an advantage.
Individuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.

This position is for five days per week, 6 hours per day: 8.30am to 3.15pm with an unpaid 45 minute lunch break.
Please note: 4 days per week will be considered if that is preferred by the successful candidate.
