WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
The Coal Mining Industry (Long Service Leave Funding) Corporation (Coal LSL) is seeking applications from suitably qualified individuals interested in being appointed to the role of Independent Chair of its Investment Committee.
ABOUT THE BOARD
Coal LSL is an Australian Government corporation established under the Coal Mining Industry (Long Service Leave) Administration Act 1992 to regulate and manage long service leave entitlements on behalf of eligible employees in the black coal mining industry. The Scheme is a national portable long service leave scheme.
The Investment Committee (IC), a subcommittee of the Board, plays a key role in assisting the Board with its responsibility to formulate and give effect to an investment strategy. The IC provides a forum for discussion on investment strategy, policy, investment opportunities, risk management and market insights. Its key objectives include ongoing assessment of Fund performance against objectives and the investment strategy; overseeing the appointment, performance, and termination of investment managers; and overseeing the performance of the asset consultant and the master custodian.
The IC holds a minimum of four meetings per year. Special meetings may be convened as required. Meetings are held in Sydney or Newcastle.
The IC Chair will also attend a minimum of four Board meetings to provide an update on key issues considered by the committee.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for an Independent Chair to join the IC for a period of four years from 1 July 2024.
The applicants are expected to:
- have the appropriate qualifications, knowledge, skills, and experience to lead the IC, enabling it to perform its functions (as outlined in the IC Terms of Reference)
- demonstrate an understanding and ability to apply specific skills as identified in the Coal LSL competency framework (refer to the Guidelines for Nomination and Skills Set Assessment of Directors).
