IT / Hardware Technician

Naskam Security Services operates one of the most advanced Grade A Central Monitoring Stations in Australia being based at Warana on the Sunshine Coast.

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Internal IT / Hardware Technician to join our team and provide technical support and assistance to our internal staff. As an Internal  Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and functionality of our organization.

Internal IT systems and infrastructure. Your primary focus will be to resolve technical issues, provide troubleshooting assistance and offer guidance to our employees on various IT-related matters.

Responsibilities:

1. Technical Support: Provide first-level technical support to internal employees by troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software and network-related issues in a timely and efficient manner. This includes diagnosing and resolving problems related to desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, operating systems and other IT equipment.

2. Help Desk Management: Act as the primary point of contact for IT-related inquiries and requests, both in person and via phone, email, or ticketing system. Provide prompt and courteous responses to end-user inquiries and ensure all requests are properly documented, tracked, and resolved within defined service level agreements.

3. System Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance tasks, such as software updates, system backups, and antivirus scanning, to ensure the stability security and performance of our internal IT infrastructure. Perform regular audits of hardware and software inventory to maintain accurate records.

4. User Training and Guidance: Offer guidance, training, and support to internal employees on the proper use of IT systems, software applications and tools. Proactively educate users on best practices and provide recommendations for improving efficiency and productivity.

5. Network Administration: Assist with the administration and management of the organization's internal network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, VPN and wireless networks. Troubleshoot network connectivity issues, configure network devices and ensure network security measures are in place.                                                                                                                                                                                                  

6. Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Maintain accurate and up to date documentation of IT systems, procedures, and troubleshooting guides. Share knowledge and contribute to the development of IT knowledge bases, FAQs, and self-help resources for employees.

7. IT Asset Management: Track and manage the organization's IT assets, including hardware, software licenses, and equipment inventory. Assist with procurement and deployment of new IT equipment as needed.

Requirements:

•Diploma or Advanced Diploma in IT  , Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

• Proven experience in providing technical support and troubleshooting in an enterprise IT environment.

• Strong knowledge of hardware, software, operating systems (Windows, macOS) and basic networking concepts.

• Familiarity with Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, and other commonly used business applications.

• Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving desktop, laptop, and mobile device issues.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.

• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.

• Professional certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional) are a plus.

Experience in the following:

• Managing UTM (Unified Threat Management) devices. SonicWall or  similar
• Layer 2/3/4 Switch Management
• Microsoft/Office 365 Management (or similar, eg Google Workspace)
• Enterprise backup and replication software (Veeam or similar)
• Hyper-V Virtualisation (Or similar, eg. VMWare)
• Deploying SSL certificates to public facing web servers and devices.
• Basic SQL server management
