Location Profile

Caulfield Junior College (CJC) is a Victorian State Government school and was established as Balaclava Road Primary School in 1914. Caulfield Junior College is located 11 km southeast from the Melbourne Central Business District (CBD).

Caulfield Junior College is a bi-national school accredited from Prep to Grade 6, to deliver both the Australian and French curriculum in accordance with the Department of Education and Training (DET) and the French Ministry of Education¿s standards and practices. The school enrolment includes students undertaking the accredited French program within the French Binational Program.  The FBP program is overseen by the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE).

The outdoor sporting facilities include an excellent synthetic football, basketball and running track area, and covered play equipment.

The school has a range of buildings dating from different eras. The Building Education Revolution Program (BER Program) facility provides classroom and multi-use spaces, including a computer section.

Additional Information

Our school currently has 560 students, 340 of whom access both the Victorian and French Curriculum in our `French Binational Program¿. Additionally, 90 of our students participate in the `Hebrew Immersion Program¿ (HIP) before school, three mornings per week. Many of those students participate in an additional after school activity once per week, run by the United Jewish Education Board (UJEB). We are proud of the diversity of our school; currently our student body includes students from 28 countries, who speak 24 different languages.

Our daily school program includes:

  • Structured literacy, numeracy and `units of inquiry¿ blocks to ensure consistent delivery of the Victorian and French Curricula.
  • Specialist classes including Art, LOTE (French), Music and Physical Education.

Outside of each school day, our school engages a variety of external providers, including:

  • Our fantastic Outside School Hours Program is run by Team Kids and is well attended by students across the school.
  • WE offer an independent `After School Activities¿ ¿ program for the purpose of building the French language in our school.
  • Sporting and Instrumental Programs
  • Australian Girls¿ Choir.
Selection Criteria

A detailed response to all Selection Criteria is required to be considered for an interview. 

SC1 Excellent technical knowledge and understanding of IT, infrastructure, systems and equipment including acquisition, installation and maintenance and its educational and administrative use in schools and enhance the implementation of digital technologies in an educational setting. 

SC2 High level understanding and use of office systems, software or technical equipment (iPads  / laptops / desktops / A/V and printing systems)  as relevant to the position including  Apple School Manager , Compass and Google systems with attention to detail, accuracy and precision in all work.

SC3 Demonstrate outstanding communication skills and a capacity to work collaboratively with school leaders and staff to imbed ICT strategic priorities of the school including proven experience to develop procedures and guidelines relating to ICT.

SC4 Demonstrated ability to lead, work independently and as part of a team, including working cooperatively with the wider school community.

SC5 Demonstrated commitment to professional learning and capacity to lead ICT related professional learning, and to adhere to Department of Education policies and procedures relating to ICT practices in schools.

Role

6 days school holiday attendance is required as a part of this role

  •     This position will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of ICT, portable devices, Apple iPads and A/V systems as well as the implementation of a BYODD program across the senior grades.
  •     The positions will provide key support and timely advice to the Digital Technologies team and Leadership in general.
  •     The role will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.
  •     There is a need to be adaptable and take on new duties to meet the needs of the evolving ICT developments at our school
Responsibilities

Support the Digital Technologies team to:

Support the school’s device program including preparation for distribution, repair and on-going device maintenance.

Conduct regular and routine ICT maintenance to improve the school’s network infrastructure.

Solve technical issues relating to hardware, software, networking and printing.

Conduct regular and routine computer maintenance and upgrades as required.

Participate in the implementation of future computer and network expansion and upgrades.

Implement and maintain effective communication systems with the Digital Technologies team and EduSTAR.TSS Specialist Technician.

Assist Digital Technologies Team in the use of digital and AV equipment.

Support the Digital Technologies Team on the planning, purchasing and installation of ICT resources.

Liaise with staff, contractors, equipment suppliers and service providers to support the ongoing implementation of ICT across the school.

Liaise with the EduSTAR.TSS Specialist Technician to keep up to date with current Department, industry developments and recommend necessary improvements.

Document procedures for using school software and hardware.

Other duties as directed by the Principal
