About the Role
The IT Operations Engineer is responsible for the operational delivery of IT Infrastructure and Cloud Services. This includes managing multiple Whitehaven Coal's service providers and ensuring overarching adherence to and execution of service Management processes used across Whitehaven Coal IT. Areas of administration include Hosting, Cloud Computing, Storage, Virtualisation technologies, SaaS and PaaS services, mobility and communication.
This is a Sydney CBD based role and occasional site visits and travel to Brisbane, Newcastle and our regional mine sites will be required, as part of managing key relationships and projects.
What You'll Do
BAU operations tasks:
Day-to-day operations and coordination of hosting infrastructure, EUC Collaboration Technologies, mobility and communications
Work closely with managed service providers to ensure their responsibilities are carried on time, to SLA and appropriate quality
Support incident management to manage business impact and IT services appropriately
Continuous improvement and optimisation of IT
Vendor and service management:
Vendor engagement tasks to ensure contractual and operational SLAs and reporting are provided
Ongoing review of vendor services reporting
IT Operations and Standards:
Ensure IT services are delivered to IT standards by all relevant
Work with relevant IT architecture group to ensure ongoing maintenance and updates of pertinent IT standards for IT Services
Maintaining technical documentation, reports, and records regarding infrastructure solutions
Monitoring, Security and Compliance:
Assisted with the operational management of security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption protocol
Assist with proactively monitoring the hosting environment for security threats and vulnerabilities
Assist with forecast capacity growth and plan for scalability
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations

Documentation:
Maintain detailed solution documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and change logs
Create and update hosting policies and procedures
Disaster Recovery, Backup and Capacity Planning:
Design and implement system redundancy and failover solutions (Data Centre, Azure).
Ensure backup and capacity planning is monitored and managed for future growth
What You'll Bring
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
Extensive experience operating, managing, and supporting IT infrastructure in an enterprise environment.
Broad knowledge of infrastructure services design and delivery, including EUC, Collaboration Technologies, and associated Virtualisation technologies, SaaS and PaaS service
Windows Technologies and Operating Systems (DHCP, DNS, Messaging, Azure, Active Directory, MDM Intune, Group Policy, SCOM, SCCM, Terminal Services etc.)
Management of cluster environments (Virtualization, hyperconvergence Infrastructure, Storage Management, Scripting)
Microsoft Office 365 and other cloud services (Azure, AWS etc.)
Familiarity with system monitoring and management tools
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Project management skills and the ability to work in a team
