Job description

We’re looking for a strong people leader to join our team as our ‘IT Operations Lead’ (titled ‘Yurika Platform Lead’ internally). This role will be responsible for managing, mentoring and upskilling a large group of technical IT professionals including IT Developers, Testers and Analysts.

The ideal applicant for this hire would be a motivational people leader with a strong understanding of technical requirements; coupled with the ability to manage stakeholders to set realistic timeframes, expectations and targets. Any technical IT Development skills would be advantageous, along with any exposure to MS D365 environments.

Yurika is part of Energy Queensland – the largest, wholly government-owned electricity company in Australia that also includes Energex, Ergon Energy Network and Ergon Energy Retail. We have 100+ years’ experience in generation, transmission, and distribution power systems in Queensland and Australia, and we’re a key player delivering on the Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan.

Working arrangements:

  • This hire will be for a 12-month fixed term hire, with a good chance of transitioning to a permanent hire OR lead to opportunities elsewhere within the wider business.
  • The salary range is $185,000 - $205,000 + 12.75% superannuation (40 hour working week). There is also an option for a 9 day fortnight, however the salary would be adjusted.
  • You will be located at any of our Queensland offices including Newstead (Brisbane), Mackay, Rockhampton, Townsville, Cairns, Toowoomba, Maryborough and others.

About your new role:

As the Yurika Platform Lead, you take charge in leading the technical development and operational support for new and legacy digital products, applications, and capabilities for our innovative Yurika platform. This pivotal role places you at the core of our strategic operations, where you drive the continuous optimisation of the platform and align it seamlessly with overarching business objectives. The focus is on leadership and will not be a hands-on technical role.

Leading and developing a multi-disciplinary team, you actively adopt and promote agile principles ensuring the team’s service delivery adheres to the Digital Operating Model. You provide highly effective day-to-day leadership, monitoring incoming work and priorities, ensuring resources are appropriately allocated to key projects, and maintaining the overall operational continuity of the team.

Additionally, you’re accountable for the management of platform risks and issues, ensuring compliance with security, legal, and audit requirements.

Why choose to work for us?

It’s an exciting time to join us and be involved in the energy sector, so consider us for your next career move where you’ll experience:

  • Secure employment backed by a strong collective agreement, with yearly EBA increases.
  • Strong superannuation of 12.75% and the ability to earn more with salary sacrifice co- contributions.
  • Opportunities for skills and career advancement with access to ongoing training and leadership programs and capacity to build and grow your skills.
  • Healthy work life balance with the option to WFH, 2 days per week and ad hoc as required.
  • A chance to give back with a paid employee volunteering program allowing our employees to support communities across QLD.
  • Support and guidance with access to 24/7 Employee Assistance Program and a mentoring program for professional support and guidance.
  • A Safety-First culture, the safety of our people, customers & communities is a core priority.
  • Reward and recognition with an internal reward and recognition program that includes an annual celebration of excellence.
  • Diversity and Inclusion where all employees can contribute towards multiple diversity and inclusion initiatives across our business.
  • Need wheels? Salary sacrifice options available for novated leases for personal use.

About you:

  • You’re an IT / Tech / Digital specialist with a degree in Information Technology, Business or another function related to the position. Alternatively, you possess the equivalent professional experience required for success.
  • Your expertise in providing technical development and support in contemporary and legacy digital platforms and vendor management is robust, and you have a particular strength in modern cloud solutions such as Microsoft Cloud.
  • You have demonstrated experience in successfully delivering contemporary cloud solutions in a complex and highly competitive market environment. To complement this experience, you also hold the required knowledge of the energy market, metering systems, and emerging energy technologies and systems in the Australian electricity industry.
  • Hands on technical development background would be an advantage, as would any MS D365 experience.
  • Building capacity and enhancing the effectiveness of a technical team is a passion of yours and you have the proven ability to effectively lead people, build high-performing, cross-functional teams, and foster exceptional service delivery.
  • Most importantly, you strongly align with our values: We’re Safe – We Belong – We Grow – We Deliver.
