ROLE
The IT Systems Administrator is a crucial member of our IT Operations Team, responsible for maintaining, configuring, and ensuring the reliable operation of the organization's computer systems and networks. This role encompasses activities such as system maintenance, server and application deployment, network infrastructure management, security implementation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
System Maintenance and Management:
- Monitor and maintain servers (physical and virtual) across various platforms (Windows, Linux) in on-premise and cloud environments.
- Perform regular updates, patches, and system upgrades.
- Configure and manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
- Install, configure, and deploy new servers, network infrastructure, and applications.
- Implement server provisioning and automation for streamlined deployment processes.
- Manage and maintain network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points).
- Monitor network traffic, analyze trends, and implement security measures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network issues.
- Implement security measures to protect systems from cyber threats.
- Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests.
- Manage backup and disaster recovery strategies.
- Install, configure, and maintain software applications.
- Provide technical support to users for software-related issues.
- Collaborate with software vendors to resolve problems.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to systems, networks, and applications.
- Provide timely solutions to minimize downtime.
- Keep thorough documentation of system configurations and troubleshooting procedures.
- Share knowledge with team members to enhance collective understanding.
- Work closely with IT Operations, Software Development, and Test teams.
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives, contributing technical expertise.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
- Collaborate with external vendors for hardware, software, and support services.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to align ICT services with organizational goals.
- Participate in on-call support rotations for 24/7 availability.
- Relevant diploma or bachelor’s degree in information technology or equivalent.
- 5-10 years of proven experience as an ICT Systems Administrator.
- Experience in UNIX/Linux environments, on-premise infrastructure, and network administration.
- Familiarity with cloud environments, virtualization, and containerization.
- Proficiency in automation tools (e.g., Ansible) and Atlassian tools (Confluence, Jira).
- Strong problem-solving skills and commitment to customer service.
- Understanding of cybersecurity practices and principles (e.g., IS027001).
- Ability to work additional hours and participate in on-call rotations.
